Group HistoryThe Amar Group of Industries, India based, and with its headquarters in Ludhiana , has grown from the most abrupt beginnings. In the early 1980's Amar group's oil refining business was flourishing and was providing the maximum revenues. But two brothers in the family of six had different plans.Mr. Karun Thapar led by his elder brother Mr. Arun Thapar diversified into pressed automotive component business by early 1987. Who knew at that point that Amar group destiny would be in this abrupt step taken by the visionary brothers. The first set of machinery was installed in the garage but the business soon made flourishing progress, mainly thanks to contracts for specific bicycle and automotive compoenents from the Hero Group of Industry. In just under a year, M/s Amar Udyog would have its own manufacturing plant and employing over 50 employees. Business grew organically and 1992 the group's turnover hit the magical $1million mark - £.6million. From here things moved apace. By 1995, the group employed around 250 employees, with 1 state of the art manufacturing plant, and a separate corporate office. By 1997, the 10th anniversary of the founding of the company, Amar Group, had 2 manufacturing plants which were merged the next year, and offices in the Ludhiana and New Delhi , and turnover had grown to $5 million, and employee numbers were around 400. From 1998-2000, the pressed component manufacturing industry was hit by a national decline and the Amar Group saw a substantial decline in business during the period. However, the financial prudence of the company meant it was in a position to diversify. In 1999, the group incorporated M/s Amar Industries, a trading company, primarily to deal with the after market requirements of Indian automotive component sector. It now has a distribution network of over 50 distributors covering all major states of India. This was followed by another capital investment in a greenfield project in 2000, by incorporating a second manufacturing plant , 'M/s Amar Sons', thoroughly dedicated towards manufacturing precision pressing and welding components primarily for international automotive component requirements. By now the Group has made its name in the Indian automotive component manufacturing industry and could boast of being a Tier 1 supplier to the Indian Autotech Industry. In 2001 achieved UKAS accredited ISO 9001:2001 certification for M/S Amar Udyog in 2002 achived 150/TS 16949:2002 user AQSR international standards for the second manufacturing plant. i.e M/S Amar Sons. In 2004 at annual turnover of 25 crores, it set up 2nd plant dedicates to meet ever incresing auto demands. Since then, Amar Sons has been going at an average each year to reach 35% to 100% in 2009. then set up it 3rd plant in Haridwar to catch the growing needs of it's exiting customers. In 2012 it achive landmark sale of 150 crores and is all set to achive the target of 200 crores by 2014. |
